University Committee on Preparatory Education (UCOPE)

The University Committee on Preparatory Education (UCOPE) advises the Academic Senate and University president on matters related to student preparation for undergraduate study. In this systemwide role, the committee evaluates policies affecting students’ college readiness, and reviews student learning outcomes in foundational areas such as writing and quantitative skills to address academic shortcomings when identified. The committee’s work helps ensure that students are adequately prepared to succeed academically and progress efficiently toward degree completion. Service on UCOPE offers faculty the opportunity to shape polices that support students’ academic preparation and strengthen their academic achievements at UC.
