Michael Laks

Michael M. Laks, MD, distinguished professor of cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine of UCLA, died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center of complications of a heart attack. He was 88. Dr. Laks was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the youngest of six children. His family moved to Los Angeles where he graduated from Fairfax High School, UCLA, and USC Medical School. Shortly after completing his medical training at Cedars-Sinai, he joined the faculty at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Laks was extremely active in medical research, publishing over 400 papers in academic journals. He was the founding president of the International Society for Computerized Electrocardiology Michael was married to Sandra Beller Laks for 56 years until her death in Dec. 2015. He is survived by his daughter Helaina (Richard Kravitz), son Alexander, and grandsons David, Aaron and Joshua.
