University Committee on Privilege & Tenure (UCPT)

The University Committee on Privilege and Tenure (UCPT) plays a central role in safeguarding the principles that define the University of California system, particularly those related to shared governance and the protection of the integrity of faculty review processes. In this systemwide role, the committee addresses systemwide policies involving academic privilege and tenure, which are at the foundation of faculty independence, and advises the Academic Senate and University president on such matters. Service on UCPT offers faculty the opportunity to engage in systemwide policy discussions and developments, bring campus perspective to systemwide deliberations, and contribute to the fidelity and equity of faculty review processes across the UC system.
