University Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication (UCOLASC)

The University Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication (UCOLASC) advises the University president on policies and issues related to University libraries and innovations in forms of scholarly communication. In this systemwide role, the committee engages with systemwide library leadership and various advisory groups, including the California Digital Library and the Council of University Librarians, and addresses systemwide initiatives on topics such as digital access, publishing practices, and author rights. The committee’s work helps ensure that UC libraries effectively support research, teaching, and equitable access to scholarly resources. Service on UCOLASC offers faculty the opportunity to influence scholarly communication policy, advocate for author rights, and support the continued strength of UC’s library system.
