Distribution of the ballots and supporting materials for the Senate's vote on the In-Residence Memorial to the Regents will not take place until after the February Academic Council meeting, Academic Council Chair Arnold Leiman has decided.
The Council reviewed a first draft of these materials at its January meeting, after which Senate divisions were asked to respond to a Council-approved revision of the materials. With divisional responses now in hand, Leiman wanted to give the Council another opportunity to review the final draft of the materials before they are sent to Senate members throughout the system.
The new round of review is being taken, he said, because the Council believes it is important that there be a perception of fairness regarding the Memorial process and that a careful consideration of divisional input will help insure this fairness.
