William Kennedy, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics, passed away on June 18, 2004.
Professor Kennedy was born on June 25, 1911. He started as an assistant professor at UCSB in 1946 and remained here, retiring as full professor in June, 1976.
His fields included History of Economic Thought, Public Utilities, and Business Ethics. He was highly regarded in the world of Economics, and he was instrumental in developing the University’s Department of Economics. He also helped create and start the Economics Department at UC Irvine.
